Separated from the armyĮventually, in 2006, the Raj split from the Shiv Sena to form the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS), which initially took a liberal stance. Raj’s dreams were shattered by Uddhav’s appointment but he could do nothing but mourn.
Raj revealed many years later that his uncle had forced him to do so. Ironically, the proposal was made by Raj himself. At the Shiv Sena convention in Mahabaleshwar, the party proposed to appoint Uddhav as the acting chairman of the army. He hoped that in the end he would get a chance to lead the party.īut in 2003 the equations changed. Due to his closeness with Balasaheb, he started increasing his dominance in the army.
He also hosted a show by pop singer Michael Jackson in Mumbai to raise funds. After this, Raj set up Shiv Udyog Sena, a private employment office of Shiv Sena for unemployed local youth. In 1988, the student wing of the Raj Sena became the president of the Bharatiya Vidyarthi Sena, which gave the impression to the people that Balasaheb was preparing Raj for big responsibilities in the party. Balasaheb allowed him to make cartoons in Marmik Weekly and Saamna Daily.
